Algerian Parliament and Council of Nation members vote "yes" for controversial constitutional amendments during a special session on November 12, 2008. Algeria's parliament approved controversial constitutional amendments on November 12 which will allow veteran President Abdelaziz Bouteflika to serve a third term. A combined total of 500 members of the upper and lower houses of parliament approved the amendments to the former French colony's constitution while only 21 voted against. There were eight abstentions.

قام مكتب المجلس الشعبي الوطني، اليوم بتخفيص منحة نهاية العهدة بـ 50 بالمائة. حيث سيتحصل كل نائب على 120 مليون سنتيم عوض 240 مليون سنتيم المبرمجة سلفا ،هذا بعد الأصوات المنددة التي اعابت على نواب الشعب حصولهم على مبالغ مالية كبيرة في حين يتجهون نحو المصادقة على قانون المالية لسنة 2017 الذي سيكون صعبا على المواطنيين البسطاء.
